Posted on May 10, 2019September 22, 2019by Cindy Scott
knoxville square

A portion of our April travels led us to Knoxville, Tennessee. We briefly visited Knoxville a few years ago, for about 5 hours. While there, we quickly realized we had messed up by not allotting more time to the city. We made a pact to give Knoxville more attention the next time we were in […]

Instagram post 2194618815740197874_43396869 One of the really awesome perks of RV life is getting to meet up with friends who are spread all over America and play with them in their own backyards!

My friends @swiss_williamson & @nicoleamanda7 took us rock climbing in the epically beautiful Smith Rock State Park right outside of Bend, Oregon last month and it was an AMAZING!! One of those days I’ll always remember. More pics of the climb to come!

Thanks for the 📸 @swiss_williamson
Instagram post 2183130946320331715_43396869 I’m back with more Olympic National Park pics!

This one’s for my friend Emily who told me the other day that she loves pictures of ”weird-looking trees”. (She doesn’t even have Instagram 😂 so @cjrodine you’ll have to show her this post.) These pics are all from the Hall of Moss Trail in the Hoh Rainforest. The trail is super short, easy and perfect for the entire family!

There were huge, old, & tall trees, ferns, moss, lichen, birds, banana slugs and more everywhere we looked! We just kept finding ourselves looking ⬆️ all day long!

The day we were there, it was drizzling. However, being a rainforest and all, it’s to be expected. As you can see, we didn’t let a little rain stop us from having a good time and checking out this easy one-mile loop trail.
Have you ever been to the Hoh Rainforest? If so what was your favorite part?
Instagram post 2171327022277930604_43396869 These two happy faces are coming at you from the top of the Mount Storm King trail in Olympic National Park. It’s the first trail we did as soon as we got to the park. It’s a 5 mile out and back, rated as difficult on @alltrails. That rating is mostly due to the 2,000 feet elevation gain teamed up with the set of ropes you must climb on the last leg of the trail.

When we arrived in the park, it was super gloomy. I spent most of this hike convinced we were hiking straight up into a cloudy overlook, but right once we got up there, the clouds started to scatter and the view of the Lake Crescent became perfect!! Swipe left <— to see some of the ropes and more of the lake. I’ll also post more rope action in the stories.

Have you ever been to Olympic NP? What was your favorite hike?
Instagram post 2169514762387669906_43396869 Last month, Barrett and I spent some time in Olympic National Park.

Olympic’s busy season is between June and September, and its rainy season is between November and April. So we figured, why not check it out in October, right between those two periods. That’s not to say we didn’t get wet, we got drenched! But it was still an incredible visit and worth it! I mean, look at those colors! 😍🍁 If you’re looking for this particular ONP sign, it can be found off Hoh Valley Rd, on your way in via the Hoh Rainforest entrance. We were able to snap this pic by wrapping our camera’s gorilla pod around a hiking pole. 😃 More Olympic travel pics and tips to come!
Instagram post 2154656554133303798_43396869 Majestic Mount Rainier 🏔 This is what the main attraction of the park looked like on that particular evening from the Pinnacle Peak Trail!! I felt like I was in a dream. We randomly took this hike at the most epic time of day on the most epically beautiful day! The sun was setting and the realization that we would be doing at least part of our hike back in the dark was setting in hard, but I was completely locked in place and mesmerized by this view. 😍

🏔
This hike has EASILY made my top 10 "hikes of all time" list! 🏔
To get to this spot, take the Pinnacle Peak Trail (2.5 miles, 1050 feet elevation gain) from the Reflection Lakes parking area until you arrive at a sign saying ”End of Maintained Trail. Travel Safely. Leave No Trace.” You'll be at a split with a pinnacle to your left and a pinnacle to your right. Take the path to the right. And yes, there is still a path, but it's definitely trickier to navigate than the path you started on. Take it slow and be safe. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with this incredible view!!
🏔
And not only this incredible view! The top provides a 360-degree view of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St Helens!! In the days to come, I'm going to keep sharing pictures of the Pinnacle Peak Trail because it was just too good not to share!
🏔
Do you have a top 10 "hikes of all time" list? I'm always looking to add to my list and would love to hear about your favorites!
Instagram post 2141892573786465635_43396869 As someone who lives out of their RV full-time, I can tell you the number one thing I wish we would have done before switching over to this lifestyle was rent an RV. I'm 💯serious here.
▫️
Our first few months on the road were rough because, in the beginning, we had NO IDEA what we were doing!
▫️
The good news is: we're over that hurdle, and we have learned at least a few valuable lessons along the way that I can now share with you!
▫️
If you're thinking about going full time, I suggest checking out the link in my bio for my latest RVshare article - 6 Reasons to Consider Renting an RV Before Buying One.

The pic is from last month when we were staying at Johnson’s of St. Mary, right outside of @glacier_national_park /@glaciernps 😍
Instagram post 2138665087686449722_43396869 Today's a work day for me. (We tend to play a couple of days in the middle of the week and then work hard on the weekends.)
▫️
But I really wish I was out hiking this area again instead!
▫️
What are you doing with your Sunday? Any fun excursions planned? I’d love to hear!
▫️
Oh, and, are you on twitter?! Yesterday was a crazy RV day and I plan on recounting the entire day, play by play, on there today! I’m @cinderstravels on that app too! So if you’re in the mood for some #rvlife stories, check it out!
